VERN’S 45 YEARS – “IT’S BEEN A GOOD LIFE”
To do justice documenting Vernon Neitzer’s 45-year career with AP&T, (let alone contributions to virtually every major energy-related project the company undertook in that time-frame), would require a feature length production. We boiled it down to 10 minutes – and decided to let Vern tell you straight from the horse’s – er.. engineer’s mouth. THANK YOU for your dedication and friendship here at Alaska Power & Telephone Company over the previous 45+ years Vern.
USE A WIRE FOR THE BEST PERFORMANCE
Wired speeds are typically faster and more reliable so if you haven’t already, try plugging your device into your router directly with an Ethernet cable.
Some devices do not support a wired connection and all wireless is not equal so be sure your router’s wireless is dual-band (to choose between 2.4GHz and 5GHz) and utilizes the 802.11ac standard.
Try to place your router off the floor, out in the open and positioned near the areas where wireless connectivity is utilized.
USERS AND DEVICES
If you’re not using a device, try shutting it completely off (not just putting the screen in standby) to free up bandwidth.
SECURE AND PROTECT YOUR NETWORK AND DEVICES
Use a password on your wireless network and run anti-virus software to protect against viruses and malware. Â Also, be sure your devices are always running the most recent software available and decrease exposure to vulnerabilities.
